LongSword:   Heavy bladed battle weapon requiring two hands to wield.  Gives the user extended reach and striking power over an opponent on the battlefield.

  Building on the success of the SENTINEL^TM S.W.S., we scaled up the specs in response to the need for long range and/or barrier penetration capabilities.  The result is a dedicated rifle system built around the very capable .300 Norma Magnum,  .338 Lapua Magnum and .338 Norma Magnum cartridges. 

The LongSword ^TM platform offers a quick learning curve for most agency snipers because the system uses the same controls and shooter input as most Remington^TM based rifle systems.  Excellent design of the Surgeon XL action allows retention of the same trigger and safety as the Remington M700/40X series rifles.  This, combined with a similar bolt cycle movement allows the "feel" of this rifle to be similar to most standard rifles in use across the country.  Keeping the operation and maintenance of this rifle parallel to its smaller counterparts allows users to seamlessly cross train.  The result is that increased capability can be brought on line without undue strain on training time and budgets.

What is the LongSword?

PURPOSE BUILT TACTICAL ACTION

The heart of the LongSword^TM sniper weapon system is the XL1591 action produced by Surgeon Rifles, Inc. of Prague, Oklahoma.  This action is a true "magnum" action that easily handles extra large magnum cartridges and offers mission specific features that are machined integral into the 4340 steel receiver. 

All final dimensional machining is completed after heat treat.  The center bore and lug ways of the receiver are wire E.D.M. cut leaving an inside dimension that runs parallel to the exterior within 0.0002".   Some of the main features of the XL1591 action are:

<> Anti-jam / anti-bind rail in center of left lug raceway.

<> Integral 30 M.O.A. Picatinny scope base machined to exact 1913 Mil-Spec.

<> Integral heavy recoil lug precision made into the receiver.

<> Extra long receiver thread engagement for increased barrel rigidity.

<> Heavy duty, left side mounted bolt stop with protective fence.

<> Remington pattern triggers.  *Rifle Basix triggers are std on our Long Sword^TM.

<> Bolt body is 0.750" diameter.  Better suited for large magnums.

<> One piece* bolt body construction with KMW Gen II Tactical handle. 

*The bolt handle base is machined integral with the bolt body.  This eliminates any possibility of a braze or weld failure. 

All bolt diameters are turned on the same setup as the locking lug surfaces to insure perfectly square lock up.  KMW tactical bolt handle is standard on this S.W.S.  A modified extraction cam machined into the receiver and bolt offer a longer engagement surface for a more reliable and smooth extraction leverage under severe conditions. 

BARRELS

Match grade barrel blanks are 6 groove cut rifled stainless by Krieger.  Each barrel blank is Cryo treated prior to rifling.  This, combined with the minimal stress of the cut rifling process provides a barrel that is very well behaved through a wide temperature range. 

Every barrel is precision machined and chambered by KMW for perfect alignment but with enough tolerances to allow for operational extremes. 

Barrels are chambered in match version .300Winchester Magnum, .300 Norma Magnum, .338 Lapua Magnum and .338 Norma Magnum.   Barrel lengths will depend on the particular mission profile that each group of rifles is built to.  L.E. orders can have the .338 Lapua Magnum finished with a 24" barrel with SureFire suppressor adapter.  Contour of the barrel is a KMW designed Heavy Bull Palma with 1.350" breech diameter and finishing 0.920" at the muzzle. 

Twist rates:  .300 Win. and .300NM = 1-10"      .338LM and .338NM = 1-9"

The LongSword^TM  S.W.S.  is supplied with the SureFire muzzle brake / suppressor adapter.  This is a very effective muzzle brake when used alone but can also mount the excellent SureFire FSS338 Suppressor.

STOCK

Each LongSword^TM S.W.S. rides in our proprietary SENTINEL^TM COMBAT stock.  It is designed by KMW and manufactured by McMillan Fiberglass Stocks in Phoenix, AZ.  This stock design was developed over a period of 6 years and includes input from top competition shooters as well as law enforcement agencies from all over the country.

SENTINEL^TM stocks feature an advanced ambidextrous thumbhole grip and adjustable cheek piece design. This stock features an extra low profile forend with a conformal bottom dedicated to the excellent Harris S-series bipods. Stock includes molded in marble and camouflage patterns. 

Each is precision bedded using custom cut 7075-T6 pillars and MarineTex^TM top layer.  Stock includes LoggerHead^TM adjustable cheek piece hardware.  Each includes side mounted, flush mount sling hard points with one set of  heavy duty 1 ¼" swivel loops and one standard stud hard point for bipod attachment under forearm.  Stock can include McMillan's L.O.P.Spacer system or come fixed @ 13.5" and includes a 1.1" Decellerator^TM recoil pad.  Stock is fitted with detachable magazine hardware includes one 5 round AICS^TM magazine.  Each stock is serial number matched to its host action.

The Vampire^TM option includes installation of the Badger Ordnance EFR.  This offers a 12' o'clock rail for mounting PVS-22/23/24/27/TANS forward of your day optic.

TRIGGER: Rifle Basix set at 2.5 pounds.

METAL FINISH is CeraKote^TM "H" series ceramic hybrid gun coating in Matte O.D. Green, Matte Graphite Black or Coyote Desert Tan.   Some groups will have our MIRAGE^TM two tone coatings for maximum blending into backgrounds.

Bolt body and lugs are matte hard chrome.  Bolt body and firing pin parts are overcoated with MicroSlick^TM dry film.                  

OPTICS: The LongSword^TM S.W.S. does not include optics except on on Law Enforcement Agency packages built to department spec.   I highly recommend NightForce and Premier optics on working rifles. 

OPTIONAL ACCESSORIES:  Each LongSword^TM S.W.S. can ship with a Harris S-BRM swivel bipod and KMW Pod-Loc^TM kit installed.  A Dewey premium coated cleaning rod and quality rod guide is recommended. 

VARIANTS:  As the components are prepared for each group of , I will offer LongSword^TM S.W.S. variations on the stock colors, metal finish colors, and barrel specifications and calibers.  Some batches will be offered suppressor ready and night vision ready.

Each LongSword^TM S.W.S. is packaged with a genuine TAB tactical sling with heavy duty push button loops.  This sling offers excellent versatility for carry options as well as superior shooting support. 

We highly recommend the TAB rifle cover.  These covers offer extra protection for your rifle while in the field as well as during transport.

PERFORMANCE

Your cold bore shot will be very consistent and bore maintenance will be simple thanks to the quality of the Krieger barrel blank.  All rifles go through initial bore break-in and are tested for accuracy as well as function before they are released for sale. 

All LongSword^TM  S.W.S. are guaranteed to shoot ½ m.o.a. or better @ 100 yards including the cold bore shot.  If it fails to perform, I will fix the problem part at no charge unless there are obvious signs of neglect or abuse.  My name is stamped on every rifle because I think a rifle smith should be held accountable for the quality of his work.

NOTE:  The operational depth and versatility of the .338 LM can be fully realized when RUAG ammunition is fielded as part of the S.W.S.   RUAG's Swiss-P line of purpose built ammunition has been demonstrated to be extremely accurate and is available in mission specific configurations.  One of the most important capabilities of this product line is its ability to place all configurations into the same ballistic path out to 300 meters.

I highly recommend this ammunition after personal experience has proven their marketed claims with both .308 Winchester and .338 Lapua Magnum.  We can only hope that they will add the .338 Norma Magnum to their line.
